Coins & the Blessed Coffers

Coins & the Blessed Coffers
The Blessed Coffers is a vending machine found along the exterior walls of Vignei's temple. It looks like a vintage payphone with a coin slot for Silver coins and one for Copper coins. Simply insert the coin, lift the receiver and make your request. It will arrive at your temple within one minute to three business days. If you are getting multiple items for a full team, make sure you have the whole order ready at once.
Coins
By participating in Rituals, disciples will receive either Silver or Copper Coins. Coins are functionally just the favor of a god put into a convenient, pocketable form. Anytime a disciple does something to earn the favor of their god and they were not doing it as part of a specific exchange (i.e. throwing a ritual to earn healing) their reward will manifest as a Coin which can be cashed in later via the Blessed Coffers.

Coins have a hole in them so that they can be carried on a cord easily, but it is the player's responsibility (ooc)/character's responsibility (ic) to keep track of their coins and spending. Coins are not magical and can be lost, traded, stolen, or destroyed.

(But it isn't that serious. The point is characters should be motivated to DO STUFF to GET STUFF.)

An optional spreadsheet for tracking can be found here, but whatever tracking method works for you is fine.

  • Silver Coins
    • The size of a silver dollar. Has a diamond hole in it. There is a picture of The Merchant's face on one side and his brand on the other.
    • Can only be obtained by putting on a C&C Ritual (translated: putting up a post for the community to engage in)
    • Silver Coins belong to the Cult/Team, not individuals
    • One Silver Coin is given to the team for one post, it will simply appear in the common area. Technically, there is nothing to keep just one team member from grabbing it and spending it, but remember; be a dick ICly, not OOCly!
    • Things that can be bought with Silver coins are generally large items that are a boon for the whole team or individual items for each team member. Large items cannot be bought with multiple Copper Coins.
  • Copper Coins
    • The size of a quarter. Has a diamond hole in it. There is a picture of The Merchant's face on one side and his brand on the other.
    • Can be obtained by attending C&C Rituals (individual members of the hosting team are also considered 'attendees' and thus also will get Copper Coins)
    • Can be obtained through Little Rituals
The Blessed Coffers
Coins can be spent to receive most things your character could want, from raw materials, to items from home, or even ways to reclaim lost memories. The only exception to this is any communication technology more complicated than a pen and paper: no phones, typewriters, computers, tablets, printing press.

The Coffers should mostly be handwaved/done without mod approval. Below are examples of what characters can exchange for their coins:
Silver Coins
1 Silver coin will get either every member of the cult a finished item of similar make, or one large item for the temple.

Each of these would be 1 Silver Coin:
  • New room for house with a specific function (i.e. laundry room with washer/dryer. Bathroom with shower/sink, greenhouse with pots and shelves and seed)
  • 1 non/low magic item from home for each team member
  • 1 weapon for each team member
  • 1 piece of bedroom furniture for everyone
  • 1 full outfit for each team member
  • 1 fully furnished living room
  • 1 fully stocked kitchen
Copper Coins
Copper coins can never be exchanged for anything completed (unless you're just eating raw fruit). They are for purchasing components that will go into something more complex.

1 Copper Coin can be exchanged for things like:
  • 1 10lb sack of [veg / fruit / grain / seed]
  • 1 chair's worth of wood
  • 1 40lb box of any metal ore
  • 1 large block of clay
  • 1 box of wool
  • 1 gallon of oil
Up to 5 Copper Coins can be spent for higher quality/complexity or partially processed materials. But they should still never be finished items. IE:
  • 1 memory = 1-5 coins (The more coins u give the more long/meaningful the memory. Use at your own disgression)
  • 3 Coins for a 10lb flour / roasted coffee beans
  • 3 Coins for 1 box of spun yarn
  • 4 Coins for 40lb of steel bars
  • 5 Coins for 20 yards of linen fabric
