Temples
Common Elements
The Temples of each of the gods are scattered around the outer perimeter of Pyriate, with the opening of their courtyard facing in toward the center. Each temple has a similar layout and some of the same basic features, but with different styles (and levels of quality) depending on the god. That's right, some gods are just nicer to their disciples than others.
Here is what you can expect to find at every Temple:
- 1 Courtyard - Typically unfenced, and initially devoid of any features unless stated otherwise
- 6 Bedrooms - This number will not magically change according to the number of people in the team
- 1 Bathroom - Quality may vary significantly, but at least there is a sink, shower, toilet, along with basic hygienic necessities that do not run out (unless you abuse it)
- 1 Combined Kitchen and Common Area - Open floor plan. There will be some way to prepare/cook/store/eat food, and somewhere to sit. Additionally:
- All kitchens will have 1 medium sized pot, 6 bowls, and 6 spoons standard. Quality/aesthetic will align with your god.
- All kitchens will always have at least 6 ramyeon cups in stock so no one starves
- 1 Large, Empty Room - to be used as the cult deems fit.
- 1 Altar Room - Your god lives here =)
Temple of Canadensis
Exterior
An low log cabin that has some greenery growing on it. Moss and weeds have taken root on the roof and there is ivy on the walls. It screams 'wild'.
The bedrooms that frame the courtyard look like similar, smaller connected log cabins, but each has their own tiny front porch. The courtyard itself is overgrown with forest brush and a small path cuts toward the Altar door.

Altar Room
It's a trophy room. There are mounted animal heads, there are mounted human heads, there are bones and bones and more bones. This is proof of the Hunter's prowess and it is on full display. On a small wooden table is a crudely carved wood bowl and stone knife. Any attempt to remove the knife or bowl from the room will result in bodily harm. The easiest way to get the attention of Temis is with blood.

The common areas all have an earthy, mossy floor, as if the cabin was just down on top of a forest. You can even find tiny wildlife (elephants, giraffe) living in the grass or crawling under the doors.
The kitchen and joined living room are rustic. There is an ever-burning smokeless campfire, a well, and an icebox. While there is no running hot water, the fire burns hot and eternal and water will boil very quickly. There is a variety of racks and wooden skewers and stones -- all that can be used for campfire cooking, as well as a copious amount of aluminum foil. What the kitchen lacks in appliances, it makes up for in knives.
The furniture is all wooden and looks handcarved but comfortable and functional. Lighting throughout the temple is provided by torches, lanters, and the firepit.
The bathroom is stone and wood with a simple toilet. The water features, however, are oddly exceptional. The shower is a free flowing indoor waterfall and while it's always a fairly cool temperature, the water is always clear and perfect. The 'sink' is likewise a small clean stream that winds down the wall before disappearing into the floor.

Bedrooms
The bedroom floors are also grassy, and instead of beds there are miniature tents. Within the tents are high-quality bedrolls and flannel blankets. While there is no other furniture in the room, and the small windows have no glass to keep out the weather, the temperature will always be that of late summer and early autumn, the perfect time for a chase.

Temple of Gracillis

Exterior
The temple building is several multi-colored tents that are always drenched in fog and darkness, no matter the state of the sunphone. Sometimes faint music can be heard near the tent -- varying between music box style carnival tunes and funeral dirge.
In the courtyard leading toward the Altar Room is a half-buried giant skeleton with a big grin. It's definitely some kind of lawn decoration style like a garden gnome but bonier.

Altar Room
The Altar Room is entirely mirrored. The floor, ceiling and walls are all mirrors. They show echoes of you when you stand in it and often there are shadows that move in the corners and creases of the glass. It has more of a 'horror movie mirror room' than 'fun house mirror room' vibe but there are a few wavy glass panels. In the middle is a carnival fortune teller machine, it casts no reflection in the mirrors.
You can talk to the fortune teller machine but it is truly random if anything will talk back.

The kitchen has a decidedly 'body part brutal' aesthetic to it. The walls have things like decorative (not real, probably) teeth and the table is carved to look like it was made of bones. The stove is an AGA, constantly hot and burning but one of the 'burner plates' always runs frigid, more like those plates you make rolled ice cream on -- and it is never consistent which one. One of the oven compartments also has a Jack-in-the-Box that pops out of it, also never consistent as to which one.
The living room area is just a big indoor carousel area. That's it. There's no other place to sit and occasionally it will just start moving. This is fine.
The door to the bathroom says 'Very Scary' on it and there is a 1 in 4 chance that when you open the door it opens to an outhouse with a bucket of water to wash your hands. The inside will NOT reset until something is poured into the toilet. The other three times it opens to a fancy hotel bathroom that maybe definitely was a mauseleum before but it's fine now. All the amenities are definitely hotel style with tiny towels and bottles of shampoo and all of that.

Bedrooms
The bedroom door opens to a series of stretched out netting at floor level, but it hangs over a pit of bones. There's no traditional bed or chair but there are several hammocks and trapeze bars / hanging scarves to climb on. As long as you're not afraid of falling, it's pretty comfortable.

Temple of Ammon
Exterior
A low, cobblestone, weather beaten building that is sturdy despite its ancient and ugly appearance. The building is drafty, the corners are always too dark, and within this temple all lights seem weaker than you would like.
The courtyard is utterly devoid of life, but strewn with rubble froom the crumbling building around it.

Altar Room
An extremely dark cave-like room with apparently two inches of cool water that always seems to quickly settle into stillness. There are soft, swirling lights that shine in the ceiling above and reflect in the water or-- is it the other way around? But instead of granting light to see by, their many small lights disturb your night vision, making it impossible to adjust to the dim.
It is hard to find the doors out of this room (and they always seem to close as soon as you enter), and the altar itself is a low rough rock slab that just barely rises above the water level and is most often found by tripping over it. It seems to move, and you will never find it by hugging the stone walls. You can only venture into the darkness and hope.
Jen is quite difficult to summon. You may walk or bleed or cry or beg in her Altar room for hours and never hear a whisper of her.

The common areas are just a smidge more comfortable than the exterior of the building would lead one to believe. But it is still all rough stone, cold dim areas, and previously used furniture and tools. The wrought iron, wood-burning stove is well rusted and tends to leak smoke into the room, and it struggles to provide enough warmth for the whole area. The heavy stone counters of the kitchen are pitted and that can't be sanitary, there is a haunted groan as water runs fitfully through the pipes and it is always cold.
The seating area is a motly collection of stools, unmatched dining room chairs, and one old couch that looks like it might have been saved from the dump.
The bathroom is similarly barely functional and severe. There is no shower but there is a bath (that only fills with cold water) and the toilet is a stone seat over a hole that doesn't seem to have a bottom.

Bedrooms
Cold, damp, and dusty. Every room has a window -- but no shutters or glass. And they face away from the Sunphone so that little light gets in. Every Disciple will have only simple, previously used wool sheets and a thin mattress and their arrival garments.

Temple of Nivicola
Exterior
A very very large, moss and mushroom covered tree stump. Old and decaying. It's huge roots curve around to make the temple courtyard, and they are dotted with the small round doors of the cultists bedrooms. The entryway to the Altar Room is a heavy wooden door set into a giant old knot in the tree.
The countyard is a wild meadow with narrow pebble paths to each of the doors.

Altar Room
The absolute ultimate cozy witch cottage, with no walls but shelves of overflowing books and herbs placed to delineate space. This isn't an Altar Room, someone lives here.
There is a seating area with low tables and overstuffed armchairs covered in handmade blanks, a work area with a heavy wooden desk overloaded with tomes and scrolls, and a kitchen area that is slightly set apart from a cauldron area, which has an ever bubbling, ever color-changing liquid within. The 'altar' itself is a heavy black slab table, inscribed with runes and pictures of the moon cycle. It is tucked into a corner, and usually buried under blankets and pillows.
There is a cutesy sign on the main Altar Room door that says "Knock please 🪻" and anyone who does not abide this request will find themselves roughly ejected, regardless of time of day, regardless of entry point.
Limnly is relatively easy to summon as long as it is during daylight hours and doesn't happen too often.

All the interior spaces of the temple have low ceilings and anyone taller than 5'9" is going to need to duck a little. The walls are wooden, as if they were handcarved out of one big block of wood. Nothing is perfectly straight but it is well sanded so splinters shouldn't be a big risk. The space holds warmth well and there is always an old, crochet blanket on every other piece of furniture in case it's needed. The temple is lit with magical candles that light themselves when someone is in the room and go out when they leave. They can be manually snuffed if desired.
The seating area is composed of well worn armchairs and small sofas, along with a large table that serves as both the space for food preparation and eating. Cooking is done on a well maintained wrought iron stove, and there is always enough wood in a nearby basket. The fridge has the aestetic of an icebox but the temperature is magically maintained so it never goes warm. The pots are copper, the bowls are handmade pottery but quite pretty, and the utensils are chopsticks, wide flat spoons, solid scissors, and one very large knife.
Mushrooms grow in the corners all around, put them in your mouth at your own risk. (They are absolutely Very Poison).

Each bedroom is quite small, but still have a good amount of floor space as the downy futon is actually tucked into a narrow, carved out wall space. There is a small sturdy desk, nightstand, and trunk, and a even more blankets. The windows are small and round, but they can be shuttered and the space stays warm.

Temple of Dalli
Exterior
The temple of Dalli is an austere building that balances solemn structure with ornate embellishments. It has high vaulted ceilings and numerous details like carved stone pillars and stained glass portraits. It is exclusively lit by hundreds and hundreds of votive candles. Many of the stained glass images are hard to describe, like the words get stuck in your throat. It is beautiful, at least.
The courtyard is paved with ornate stone, interspaced with a couple of decorative fountains.

Altar Room
There is a statue of Rizus at the front of the Altar Room and at their feet is a stone altar. The altar itself is plain in design, one half a rounded sphere and the other a sharp edged rectangle, but the room around it is intimidatingly opulent. The ceiling is high, with beautiful architecture that is embellished in bright colors and bold lines.
Rizus' attention can be gained relatively easily with a prayer or a small sacrifice, but as to whether or not they will say or do anything helpful... outlooks are dim.

Shared Spaces
The common area has larged velvet cushioned benches and small marble tables, placed beautifully over detailed and plush rugs. There is a large fireplace that has no space to cook in but will keep the room eternally warm.
The kitchen area just to the other side of the room is merely serviceable by contrast. There is a small electric stove set into a large tile counter. The sink is large, the hot water is hot, the cold water is cold, and there is plenty of space to work. But everything about it screams 'functional only'.
The bathrooms are equally plain -- a wash basin, a simple toilet, very little creature comforts but very pragmatic. It's serviceable but far from the grandness of the more ornate parts of the temple.

The best description of the bedrooms is 'plain'. There is a simple cot, low ceilings, bare rafters and a single candelabra with plain white candles. Rooms also come with a singular uncomfortable chair to sit in.

Temple of Vignei
Exterior
A sleek modern building with lots of angles and glass. It really gives 'I may be working overtime but at least my office building is cool looking'. Despite having a lot of windows, they're all tinted and you can't see through them (on either side). The interior is very minimalist in design -- a lot of geometric shapes, flat walls with hidden compartments and plain colors. Also a lot of LED lights.
The courtyard is astroturf with a path of ugly glass pavers that light up as you step on them. They are dangerously slippery when wet. (But they look cool).

Altar Room
A real 'step into my office and let's chat, we're just two bros' kind of altar room. It mimics a fancy executive office, with a desk and chairs and even the facsimile of a computer -- but if you try to go to the 'boss's side' of the desk you are promptly kicked out. There is also a big wall-wide window that shows a constant city at work landscape, but it definitely has the 'screensaver that's looping' vibe.
There is a kiosk at the front of the office where you can schedule a meeting with Herbert. It only has a few open slots a day, usually in the very early AM or between 5 to 8pm, and 50% of the time he will not show up for the meeting and you have to reschedule.

All spaces of the temple scream 'cool futuristic, barely functional design'. The kitchen? Well kitted out but looks like an empty white space and you have to press underside the counter until you find what reveils the stove top or how to make the fridge slide out of the wall.
The living room is similarly overdesigned and uncomfortable to be in but at least it looks kind of cool. Also, the bathrooms! Very sleek, sure, but my god why does the toilet have like 4 levers.
